Practice details
Matthew Sorg, LMHC, is an EMDRIA Certified EMDR Therapist and Consultant in Training (CIT) offering EMDR consultation for clinicians in Washington State and nationwide. He provides small group consultation (maximum 3 participants) and individual consultation for therapists pursuing EMDRIA Certification or seeking case consultation on EMDR. His clinical focus includes complex trauma, dissociation, EMDR with somatic processing, and ketamine-assisted EMDR (KA-EMDR). He is also faculty at Seattle University. Consultation available via telehealth.

Formats

Small Group Consultation

Biweekly · 90 min · 3 clinicians max · telehealth

Regular structure and peer learning. Groups are small so you get real presenting time.

Individual Consultation

60 min · scheduled as needed · telehealth

For complex cases, recording review, or focused conceptualization work.

Both formats count toward EMDRIA Certification (up to 15 hours from a CIT).

What consultation looks like

Come with what's giving you trouble, not what's going well. I'll ask about your conceptualization, help you think through what might be happening for the client, and work with you on next steps. If something isn't working, we figure out why — not just try a different technique.

The foundation is the 8-phase protocol, the three-pronged approach, and the AIP model. I'll help you build genuine fidelity to standard EMDR, and develop the clinical judgment to know when and how to modify it. My caseload is almost entirely complex and developmental trauma — dissociation, attachment wounds, somatic flooding — so that's where I have the most to offer.

Background

I'm an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and a Consultant in Training (CIT) working with Dr. Christie Sprowls, PsyD, one of the original EMDR Institute trainers. Advanced training in Flash Technique, structural dissociation and ego state work (Complex Trauma Inc), ketamine-assisted EMDR, and Brainspotting through Phase 5. Faculty at Seattle University.

Questions

How many hours can I get from a CIT?
Up to 15 of your 20 required hours. The remaining 5 must come from an Approved Consultant. I can help you plan this.
Do I need to be pursuing certification?
No. If you've completed basic training and want to sharpen your EMDR skills, you're welcome here.
Can I do both group and individual?
Yes. Many clinicians use group for regular structure and individual for deeper dives.
Is this clinical supervision?
No. This is professional development focused on EMDR. I don't hold liability for your clinical decisions.
Do you consult outside Washington?
Yes. Consultation isn't therapy — I work with clinicians across the country via telehealth.
